Leather, like our skin, needs regular
cleaning, moisturizing & conditioning. It should have this treament
twice per year. Leather that is not maintained will dry out become
brittle and form little wrinkles & cracks. In time these will
grow so large that re-dyeing is needed or they open up as holes
that need repairing before re-dying can be done. Below is a series
of examples.
Before.............. After
These forty year old chairs had
many years of dryness & wear re-stored.
The green furniture below was
restored without being re-dyed.
Forty years of our dry winters
without regular care caused this,
lovely red loveseat to shrink,
wrinkle and fade. We keep remarkable little elves, hidden
away in a back room who can surgically repair the holes and then
re-dye the faded leather to match the unaffected areas.

Holes or cuts like this can be
surgically repaired to add a few years of life.
This damaged area was caused by
wear not dryness and had to be re-dyed.
Mom's theatrical make-up provided
hours of fun one budding artist.
It also provided hours of work
cleaning & re-dyeing for our artists.

Perspiration or hair spray can also
be removed from this comfy spot.
Made in the 1920's for Eaton's
parades, this horse carriage needed help.

A white "leather filler"
is first applied, then "cured" and carefuly re-dyed.
This will result in a nearly invisible
repair if the gods are smiling that day and
if special prayers and incantations
are correctly invoked.
