When buying new carpet, please,
ALWAYS, keep extra pieces and store.
Many repairs can be done if extra
unused material is available. We have
repaired damage from hot irons, light bulbs, rolling logs, cigarettes,
scratching dogs, cats, rabbits, iguanas and electric drills.
Carpet can also be damaged by
oil spills of baby oil or lamp oil. Stains
that are impossible to remove can also be repaired with carpet surgery,
see below.

Unravelled yarn from a Berber
carpet. Three stitch rows repaired with a bonded insert. Will be
invisible after carpet in this area has been cleaned.

Small areas of damage or missing
fibre can be re-tufted.
Loving husband drilled a hole
thru Berber carpet for a new closet, poor sod.
Spilled lamp oil, baby oil,
or too much solvent applied to any carpet, will cause delamination.
This can only be repaired from the back or by injecting new adhesive
into the carpet's backing.
Cigarette burns can be repaired
if extra carpet's colour & texture matchs old.
Repair must follow direction
of stitch rows & is matched stitch for stitch.

There is only a handful of truly
impossible stains. Large paint or varnish spills, some inks, pigments
and wicker basket dye to name a few.
Above left - the challenge, above
right, the face fibre of carpet is surgically removed, leaving
backing intact. Notice how deep the stain has penetrated.

The damaged area is carefully trimmed
by exactly following the stitch rows.

The insert piece is "dry
fitted" to ensure a good match & relaminated to back.
The latex adhesive is of the same strength that is used by the
manufacturers.

Repairs of this kind can be done
up to 18 inches squares if both pieces match well.
